Family dental practices that are authentically tailored to the needs of families are accessible. You can reach a person at all hours of the day, seven days a week. As your emergency dentist in Houston TX, Vivid Dental gets great satisfaction from offering same-day appointments to patients, resolving pain quickly and addressing dental conditions and trauma in a manner that is in the best interest of each individual’s health over the long term. A dental emergency can mean a lot of different things and requires prompt care. Below is a list of some of the reasons you may need to call us, sooner rather than later, and what to do in the interim:
- Toothache – Pain can be caused by several different conditions, from worn fillings to deep infection. Rinse your mouth with warm water, and gently floss to remove any irritating food or debris.
- Breakage – If your tooth is cracked, it can still be saved by your dentist with a little help from you. As above, use warm water to clean your mouth. Apply a cold compress to the outside of your face, which helps to reduce swelling. Gently clean any parts of the tooth that may have fallen off and save them Vivid Dental encourages all patients to create a dental First-Aid kit – it makes things so much easier in the event of an emergency. Apply pressure directly to any sore spots with gauze, until any bleeding that may be present stops.
- Displaced tooth – If your tooth gets knocked out of your mouth, hold it by the crown the part that normally resides above the gum line, and gently rinse the tooth’s root. Take great care to keep the attached tissue intact. Don’t force the tooth back into its socket but try to gingerly place it back inside of your mouth. The tooth may be stored safely in a container filled with either milk or common table salt and water. Save-A-Tooth preserving kits were designed with this situation in mind! The sooner you can see Dr. Harpalani, the greater the chances that he’ll be able to re-root your tooth.
- Damaged restorations – If fillings or crowns are dislodged, use an OTC dental cement or denture adhesive to temporarily hold the restoration in place. Even sugar-free gum or toothpaste can be used to fill in cavities or secure crowns until Vivid Dental is able to see you.
Don’t delay. If you’re in pain or think it’s a dental emergency, it’s an emergency to Dr. Harpalani and the team. Call 281-809-4902. Vivid Dental’s dentist will see you soon!
