A beautiful smile can exude confidence and great oral health. Unfortunately, not everyone has naturally bright white teeth or a perfectly aligned smile. Problems may occur over time that can negatively affect the appearance of the teeth, including trauma and disease. Thankfully, patients can obtain a beautiful smile without the need for orthodontic treatment or dental surgery. With dental veneers, Houston area patients can make dramatic changes to the appearance of their smiles.
Dental veneers are fabricated with porcelain. These thin shells are custom-made to fit over the front of the teeth to disguise problems such as misalignment, breakage, shape, and color. This treatment is done quickly and easily through Dr. Harpalani’s practice, but patients must be appropriate candidates for veneers before undergoing the procedure.
A consultation appointment at Vivid Dental will determine if veneers are a good choice. During this first visit, alternative options may be considered, including cosmetic bonding, dental crowns, and orthodontics. When patients have decided that dental veneers are the solution for them, they will schedule their initial preparatory appointment. At this visit, patients will have a small amount of enamel removed from their teeth (with local anesthetics, and sedation if necessary), and impressions taken. These molds are sent to an outside laboratory for the creation of the custom veneers. This can take approximately one to two weeks, and patients return to the practice to have their final veneers bonded in place.
